A Tribute to John Prine: American Song Writer
On Saturday, April 8th, Donna Lee and The Crooked Ledge Band will perform the music of John Prine at the Palmer Historical and Cultural Center.
John Prine was one of the most influential song-writers of his generation. He is known for his humorous style with elements of protest and social commentary. John Prine was a veteran working as a postman in the late 1960s when he backed quietly into the spotlight. His songs featured unique takes on love, life and current events. With his comic romps, melancholy reflections and beautiful songs about terrible things, John became and remains an icon of country-folk music.
Hear the stories behind the songs and the many ways that the music of John Prine has influenced Donna Lee and the band. This show promises to make you laugh, make you cry and make you want to sing along. You will hear some of America’s favorite songs: “Angel from Montgomery”, “Dear Abby” and “Hello in There”. This show has something for everyone.
